Chaoyang Wang

Founder


Starting his career in relation to intellectual property law in 1992, Chaoyang Wang has extensive experience in trademark, copyright, design patent, domain name and  anti-unfair competition. His spectrum of practice includes IP related counseling, prosecution and litigation. He advises and assists clients for shaping and implementing trademark protection strategy, including adopting marks and conducting clearance search, filing and disputing/defending trademarks, copyright, design patents and domain name registrations, and enforcing their trademark rights through administrative and judicial measures.  He worked with a large size IP firm as trademark agent at his early stage of pratice, and he spent 10 years in a well recognized general pratice Chinese law firm as a partner for the firm’s trademark pratice before establishing this firm in 2014.  In 2000, Chaoyang had an opportunity to stay in a large US firm for a period of time as a visiting attorney.

 

Chaoyang Wang has handled numerous cases involving trademark oppositions, invalidation actions pr cancellation actions, including the related administrative court proceedings.  He files domain name dispute resolution complaints with the Domain Name Dispute Resolution Center under CIETAC, and drafts agreements regarding assignment, license or coexistence of trademarks and other IP related agreements, conducts negotiations involving trademark assignments, license and co-existence, etc. and other IP related matter.

l  Representing a leading international confectionary and foods producer, to take back domain name registrations pirated by local cyber squatters by filing complaints with Domain Name Dispute Resolution Center under CIETAC

l  Representing Nasdaq Stock Market Inc. to win several trademark oppositions and cancellation actions

l  Representing Formula One Licensing BV to win several trademark oppositions

l  Representing a US clothing producer to acquire a pirated mark with limited consideration through negotiation under covert identity

l  Representing a US food supplements producer to successfully oppose a pirated trademark based on its company logo as copyrighted artwork

l  Representing the heirs of deceased Spanish painter Picasso to successfully defend a trademark infringement allegation from the owner of pirated trademark registration based on Mr. Picasso’s copyright over its works and his right to his signature

l  Representing the heirs of Guestave Eiffel, the designer of Eiffel Tower, to successfully cancel a third party’s unauthorized trademark registration for “Gustave Eiffel”

l  Representing a leading Chinese automobile manufacturer in its overseas trademark registration.  Helping the client to successfully oppose pirated prior marks in several foreign jurisdictions, and help the client with entering into a co-existence agreement with a prior mark owner in some foreign jurisdictions

l  Representing the famous Chinese NBA player Yi Jianlian to win a litigation whereby the third party’s unauthorized “YI JIANLIAN” trademark registration was cancelled, which was recognized as a Top 10 IP Case by Beijing High Court in 2010

l  Representing a number of multinational companies to warn against third parties for their trademark infringement or other IPR infringement at their websites and  successfully have the infringing content removed from the websites.

Representing a number of multinational companies to warn against third party for their unauthorized trademark filings and get the applications withdrawn, or  modified or assigned to the lawful trademark owners.

l  Representing a number of multinational companies to approach owners of prior trademarks for paid acquisition of the trademarks and concluded transactions acceptable consideration.

l  Representing a famous Chinese video share website to obtain its trademark registration in the United States, and successfully invalidated a number of third     parties’ preemptive trademark registrations in China
